WHY DO YOU LOVE OLYMPIC BIKE SHOP? Whenever anyone asks about bike stuff – sales, parts, rentals, maintenance, knowledge – I immediately recommend Peter, John, Sam, Molly and everyone else at OBS. Those guys and gals know their stuff. Sam takes care of my bike like it’s his own, which is rad. And Peter is always happy to point me in the right direction, whether I’m looking for a helmet, a saddle, or a bike basket for Burning Man!
FUN FACTS | I’ve lived in Tahoe City since 2003. I have a blue beta fish named Ricky. I have 20 houseplants. I eat gluten and meat. I LOVE Stephen King books. I have an arsenal of super dorky/bad jokes
Accomplishments
First Mountain Bike Ride
Page Meadows
Check out this easy short loop in Tahoe City. It's the perfect ride if you are new to mountain biking in Tahoe or short on time. A brief climb up a fire road will lead you to a beautiful and quiet meadow with views of Twin Peaks. The Tahoe Rim Trail allows for a fun descent back into Tahoe City.
First Road Bike Ride
Sonora Pass
You can warm your body at the first 5, level miles. In the next mile the road climbs at 1000 ft/304.8 m elevation. The top of Sonora Pass from Dardanelles is 14.5 miles/23.3 km and has an exhausting 4000 ft/1219 m total gain in elevation. There are many blind turns in this narrow road, making safety an important consideration. You can continue over Sonora Pass, that has a drop of 3000 ft/914.4 m in 11 mi/17.7 km to Pickel Meadow and then turn around and go back the way you came. Another option is to carry on going all the way out to Highway 395 at Sonora Junction, making it approximately over 30 mi/48.2 km from Dardanelle.
